Complete uPVC Window Manufacturing Machinery List for a New Plant

A uPVC window plant needs machines for cutting, routing, welding, cleaning, glazing bead cutting and assembly. This list explains each machine in the order of work, so you can plan the setup and the budget before you buy.
Mechnovate manufactures the cutting machine, the end milling machine, the copy router and the punching machine in Ahmedabad, and supplies the pillar drill and the air compressor. We do not manufacture the welding machine, the corner cleaning machine or the glazing bead saw, so you buy those from other manufacturers.
The uPVC window machinery list
| Step | Machine | Purpose | Mechnovate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Cutting machine | Cuts uPVC profiles to length at 45° or 90° | Manufactured |
| 2 | Copy router | Routes lock holes, handle holes and water drainage slots using a template | Manufactured |
| 3 | End milling machine | Shapes mullion and transom ends so T-joints close without gaps | Manufactured |
| 4 | Pillar drill | Drills screw and fixing holes | Supplied |
| 5 | Welding machine | Welds mitred corners of frames and sashes | Not manufactured |
| 6 | Corner cleaning machine | Removes weld flash from the welded corners | Not manufactured |
| 7 | Glazing bead saw | Cuts glazing beads to size | Not manufactured |
| 8 | Air compressor | Supplies air to pneumatic machines at 6–8 bar | Supplied |
How the machines work together
- Cut. A cutting machine cuts each profile at 45° for welded corners or 90° for mullions and transoms. The same machine also cuts aluminium, so it suits a workshop that makes both.
- Route. A copy router routes the lock holes and the water drainage slots. A template guides the cutter, so every sash gets identical slots. The pneumatic copy router adds foot-pedal clamping for faster work.
- Mill the ends. An end milling machine shapes the ends of mullions and transoms that meet another member.
- Drill. Fixing and screw holes are drilled on the pillar drill.
- Weld and clean. The welding machine joins the corners, and the corner cleaning machine removes the weld flash.
- Cut beads and assemble. The glazing bead saw sizes the beads, and the frames are assembled and glazed.
Manual or pneumatic machines
Manual machines need no compressor and cost less, which suits a start-up. Pneumatic machines are faster and less tiring, which suits a plant making many windows a day. You can start with manual machines and move to pneumatic ones as orders grow. Copy router templates work on both models.
A mixed aluminium and uPVC workshop
If you also make aluminium windows, the same cutting machine and copy router work for both materials. Add a punching machine for aluminium drainage and hardware holes. See our aluminium window fabrication machine setup guide for that side of the workshop.

Frequently asked questions
Which machines do I need for a complete uPVC window setup? A cutting machine, a copy router, an end milling machine, a pillar drill, a welding machine, a corner cleaning machine, a glazing bead saw and, for pneumatic machines, a compressor.
Which of these machines does Mechnovate make? We manufacture the cutting machine, copy router and end milling machine, plus a punching machine for aluminium. We supply the pillar drill and compressor. We do not manufacture the welding machine, corner cleaning machine or glazing bead saw.
Can one cutting machine cut both uPVC and aluminium? Yes. Our cutting machine cuts uPVC and aluminium profiles. Fit a uPVC-grade blade for uPVC.
Which machine makes water drainage slots in uPVC windows? The copy router. It routes the slots with a template, so each one is the same size and in the same place.
